- When I read this last, I was 20. And I did not yet speak German - not really at all. What a delight to read it again 30 years later (for free, in electronic form, where any unremembered vocabulary can be translated, or looked up with a touch) This time through, I got to enjoy the inventiveness and sophistication with which Kafka tells this story - a towering first of its kind - and also enjoy the style, wit and language he employs to convey the horror, absurdity and humor this story is still famous for. Fun.
